Medical research has revealed the link between the gut and the brain. I discuss this in this short video and talk about what you can do about making it work better for you.
In a great article from Deakin University, there is a direct correlation between Food and Mood. Check it out here
Take the time
There are so many food items in the local supermarket and it can be so overwhelming when going to purchase your weekly or daily for some, grociers.
I heard a quote once in a talk I attended and it stuck with me to this day. When you are walking through the supermarket and you go to grab an item off the shelf. Stop and think for a moment and ask yourself if your grandmother would be grabbing this item.
You see, back in the day, they would cook everything from scratch. No processed rubbish or quick and easy alternatives back then. They did it all from scratch and it worked for them. So next time you have to go shopping for food, know what you are going to cook and know the ingredients you are putting in your and your families mouths. It will take a touch longer to do this but the benefits will be endless. You will feel great. Plan, purchase, prep, cook and enjoy
The Do's
The Do's - Eating a diet high in fiber is of benefit for your body in so many ways. Firstly, it allows the body to clean out the toxins in your body much easier and gives the body the opportunity to function as it was intended. Eating crap and your body will need to work on removing the toxins instead of working on functioning. The result, you top yourself up with stimulants to function. No way of living
Eat clean. Look for things to eat that you know the source of it. Vegetables, fruits, meats, grains and oils are plentiful and provide you with substantial nutritional value. You would be amazed how many meals you could make from these groups.
The Don'ts
Dont' be fooled by the clever marketing companies and their fake promises.
When they say, 97% fat free, it's loaded with sugar and carbs. Things you don't need in your life to the level we currently have. When choosing things from the supermarket, look at the 100grm amount and the % of daily intake. Many are being conned about the benefits. You know what you need to consume to feel better and if you have completed the 10 day program, you will know what to avoid to gain that 'happy feeling from your gut'
It you don't know what the ingredients are on the box, put it back. It's full of processed items made to stimulate the brain and get you addicted to the item. Ever eaten a certain round chip that comes in a cylinder and just can't stop at one? Exactly
